Our Mission
To improve the crew experience by providing the preventative and ongoing support needed to increase crew retention and onboard cohesion.
Our Story
The vision for Ion Crew Solutions began, as many ideas do, with simple curiosity about a seemingly common problem. Watching my husband captain a busy expedition yacht I wondered, what could make his job less stressful? I knew his real passion was for driving the boat, guiding the fishing expeditions, and even problem solving mechanical issues. For years I watched quietly as he balanced it all while tending to the crew issues that were of course, inevitable. Dealing with crew turnover, onboard conflict, substance use and sometimes, much bigger issues. I offered to help when I could but rarely felt there was much I could do. When tragedy rocked the yachting community this year, I realized one essential piece has been missing all along: prevention. I noticed that not only is there limited support for captains, but the crew as a whole are often unsure where to turn for support. Once I noticed this, all the holes in the system that I witnessed firsthand became obvious. It was then that I asked myself the question: What does every crew want more of? The answer to that is exactly what we aim to deliver. More prevention of onboard issues - whether related to safety, interpersonal conflict, or turnover. More crew retention and relationship building, less hiring and training. More onboard cohesion and time spent doing what caused them to fall in love with yachting in the first place.
